About Midheaven Garden

Midheaven Garden traces back to 1972.

My dad grew up in Colorado but always carried a quiet dream of farming in Minnesota. After returning from service in Vietnam, he chose a different path — one rooted in self-sufficiency and living closer to the land. He met my mom in California during the early 1970s, and together they became part of the back-to-the-land movement, eventually living in a small commune in Utah and learning to grow their own food.

When they decided to build something of their own, they packed up and drove north. In the middle of winter, they arrived in the Park Rapids area and chose to stay.

A Foundation Built Over Time

Midheaven Farm was built slowly and steadily. There was no polished business plan — just years of tending soil, planting gardens, raising a family, and learning how to grow food in northern Minnesota’s climate.

Through trial, observation, and persistence, the land began to respond. Fertility was built from within the farm itself. Seasons were studied. What worked was repeated. What didn’t was adjusted.

Over time, that commitment shaped both the soil and the people working it.

Carrying the Work Forward

Today, Midheaven Garden carries that work forward — focused on growing vegetables and mushrooms for this community.

The principles remain the same: build healthy soil, work with the seasons, and grow food meant for real meals at home.

What has changed is scale and focus. We grow with intention — selecting crops that perform well here and deliver flavor you can count on.

Growing For Today

Midheaven Garden grows vegetables and mushrooms with one purpose — to bring fresh, flavorful food to your table.

Each season is carefully planned around what grows best in our soil and what tastes best in your kitchen. From crisp carrots to hearty mushrooms, what we harvest is meant to be cooked, shared, and enjoyed.

We focus on what matters most: strong crops, dependable quality, and food that makes dinner easier.

When you shop with us, you’re choosing freshness you can see and flavor you can taste.
